Joanne Peh dreams about Qi Yu Wu

Joanne Peh dreams about Qi Yu Wu

SINGAPORE: Singapore actress Joanne Peh often dreamt about her "C.L.I.F." co-star Qi Yu Wu, when they were shooting the Mandarin police drama.

But it wasn't the sort of dreams that would make your heart race.

"It's not the most pleasant thing.

"It is hardly romantic! It's a torturous dream," said Peh with grimace.

The dream was eerily similar to what happens in "C.L.I.F.".

She dreamt that she and Qi were police officers like the characters they played in the drama.

They ran around in circles, trying to solve a police case, but can't quite piece the clues together and always fell short.

"I think that was how sucked into the show I was," she said.

"And then I wake up [from the dream]. Next morning, I go to work and I see him again.

"I'm like 'Enough, I don't want to see you anymore'," said Peh, shaking her head.

"Throughout the show, about 95% of my scenes are with him and him only. It's like we are always partners and always together, so it was a bit traumatic."

"I keep seeing him even in my dreams!"

Fortunately, her discomfort was temporary.

After the first few weeks of production, she gradually started having fun on the set, courtesy of Qi.

"Sometimes he (Qi) is like a little boy, he is like an older brother I didn't have.

"During a [production] meeting, he would play with my chair, adjust one armrest so it is too high for me – then adjust the other side when I try to adjust it (the one Qi meddled with) back.

"He would draw on my script and I would draw on his script ... It's kind of silly," said Peh fondly, during a recent interview with channelnewsasia.com.

"That's kind of how he is on set."

"He would laugh at certain names of the characters, and then he would keep laughing. He has his own [sense of] humour."
Dream-free relationship

Interestingly, although Peh had dreamt about Qi, she had never once dreamt about her boyfriend Bobby Tonelli.

What? Her co-star dominates her subconscious thoughts but not her boyfriend?

"Ummmm," said Peh thoughtfully.

"I guess it's a good thing that I don't dream of him.

"It's good. That means I am not bothered [by] anything in the relationship, [because] that's why you would dream about it ... if you have unfulfilled desires, if you are having some problems," she said with a chuckle.

So Tonelli fulfils her in
every way?

"Ya!" she declared.
"C.L.I.F." airs every weeknight, 9pm on Channel 8.
