SNSD's Sunny collapses on stage in Japan
SAITAMA, JAPAN: Korean singer Sunny, of K-pop group Girls' Generation, collapsed from exhaustion during the Saitama leg of the group's concert tour in Japan on Sunday, reported Japanese media.
Sunny, whose real name is Lee Soon-kyu, was sent to the hospital for treatment and recovered in time to rejoin the group before the show's encore.
"I am not the only one feeling unwell and yet I left halfway [through the concert]. I am so sorry," said Lee tearfully.
A few members of Girl's Generation have fallen ill recently.
During the start of their concert tour in Japan, group member Sooyoung reportedly ran a high fever, while Jessica lost her voice during a performance on Saturday.
SM Entertainment, the firm that manages Girls' Generation, said that Lee is recovering well and that "this incident will not affect her future performances" in a statement to the media on Monday.
SM Entertainment added that they will pay more attention to their artistes' health in the future.
However, this failed to appease some of the popular girl group's fans, who were up in arms over what they perceived to be the company's neglect of their idols.
They blamed the poor health of the girls on the hectic performance schedules SM Entertainment had set for them.
Girls' Generation, also known as SNSD, was formed in 2007.
The nine-member girl group is best known for their hit 2009 single, "Gee".
